Bart Sears' DRAWING POWERFUL HEROES: Brutes and Babes!

Created by Ominous Press

Master illustrator Bart Sears taught an entire generation to draw with his acclaimed art lessons. Now those lessons, plus new tutorials, have been collected in Drawing Power Heroes Volume 1. The companion volume, Black Book: The Art of Bart Sears, is the premier collection of Bart's art!

A shout out for "Dynamic Heroine Templates" by Andy Smith
over 3 years ago – Wed, Aug 12, 2020 at 09:16:53 AM

We want to give a shout out to our pal Andy Smith's current campaign!

"Dynamic Heroine Templates"

Last year he did volume one "Dynamic Hero Templates" focusing on the male physique and now this volume focuses on the female physique for you to design your characters over his pre-drawn templates. Draw right in the book!

Give it a look!

Thank you,

Your Ominous team!

Drawing Powerful Heroes: Volume 2!!!
about 5 years ago – Tue, Feb 19, 2019 at 11:15:16 PM

I've always loved to teach graphic storytelling, and have had a dream to create a series of books, lessons, a website, maybe a school, and I owe you all a great debt of gratitude. Without your help, Drawing Powerful Heroes: Brutes and Babes! would never have been a reality. You've helped make a dream of mine start to come true.

Now, because of you, I can take the next step: Drawing Powerful Heroes: Volume 2 Kickstarter has launched!

Drawing Powerful Heroes: Volume 2!
Drawing Powerful Heroes: Volume 2!

I hope the Brute Force will mobilize behind this campaign! Please LIKE, SHARE and PLEDGE and keep Drawing Powerful Heroes going strong!

This second volume will be a massive, 144 page over-sized hardcover, and continue one of the best how-to-draw manual series ever published. Completely written and edited by Bart Sears, this edition will be perfect for beginners and more advanced artists, as well as anyone interested in the art of and creative reasoning behind drawing powerful comics.

Continuing the collection are ten of the classic Brutes and Babes lessons, each has been expanded, up-dated, revised and expanded, as well as redesigned to make for a much more satisfying reader experience. These expanded tutorials delve into anatomy, storytelling, character design, style and much more.

As in Volume 1, I have written and drawn 5 completely new lessons for this new volume. These new lessons take a powerful, Brutes and Babes style look at male proportion, anatomy, faces and character design.

I've also included the Blue-line Drawing Guide in the campaign, over-sized and featuring dozens of structural drawings, printed on a drawing quality paper, that you can draw right over, right on the page! Draw your own bubble muscles, develop your own finishing style, and even ink – right in the pages of this book! An incredibly useful learning tool, allowing you to study structure as you learn to finish off perfectly structured figures!

Basic Drawing Fundamentals Sketchbook, a campaign we love!
over 5 years ago – Sun, Nov 11, 2018 at 02:19:10 PM

Hey Everyone!

We know you like drawing and want to suggest a campaign by a friend of ours, Mark Kokavec.

Every good drawing starts with the basics and this sketchbook project covers the basics!

This unique concept of drawing in the sketchbook as you learn is very cool.

Give it a look!
